A Brief History of C++

The C++ programming language was introduced by Bjarne Stroustrup of the AT&T laboratories in 1985 as an extension of C, with additional features borrowed from the esoteric language Simula. Since then, C++ has grown rapidly in response to the practical need for a programming language that is able to efficiently handle composite and diverse data types. The language implementation is pivoted on the ingenious about of object oriented programming (OOP). Today, C++ dominates the commercial market and is favored among system programmers and application developers.

C++ is a generalization of C, but accomplishes much more than C, to the extent that it should be regarded, studied, and taught as a separate language. It is neither necessary nor recommended to study C as a prerequisite of C++, though knowledge of C can be helpful.

Dell Inspiron Mini 9 on Vodafone

Vodafone’s exclusive take on Dell’s Inspiron Mini 9, complete with integrated mobile broadband, is finally here. Is this the best netbook on the market?

There’s no escape from the netbook. Asus’ ever-expanding range of Eees may have led the way, but with MSI and Acer following swiftly after, and big names such as Fujitsu-Siemens, Samsung, Toshiba and now Dell touting their latest and lightest at every opportunity, it’s abundantly clear it’s a phenomenon that is here to stay.

It’s come to us courtesy of Vodafone. And while this may sound like a roundabout way to get hold of the much-anticipated pretender to the netbook throne, there’s good reason for it. Thanks to an exclusive partnership with Vodafone, Dell is the first manufacturer to market with a netbook with embedded 3G. Dell itself won’t be selling 3G-enabled Mini 9’s directly, so if you want mobile broadband, you’ll just have to get one on a Vodafone contract.

Otherwise, though, this is very similar to what you can buy through Dell. There’s no option for an Ubuntu Linux version, just the netbook OS of choice, Windows XP, and the specifications are largely the same.

One curious downgrade is the storage. Presumably to make a little room in the budget for the HSDPA adapter, the 16GB SSD found in Dell’s £299 XP-flavoured Mini 9 has been downgraded to a rather paltry 8GB in the Vodafone one.

With nigh on 4GB of that consumed by XP, it doesn’t leave a whole lot of room to play with. Thank goodness, then, for the SDHC memory card reader. Pop another 8GB or 16GB card in there and it’ll provide more than enough room for a sizeable collection of music, video and other digital bits and bobs.

But, we’re getting ahead of ourselves here. In terms of look and feel, the Inspiron Mini 9 is a convincing effort. It weighs a very reasonable 1.08kg, with the compact charger only adding another 200g to the figure. The 8.9in screen means that the Mini 9 is a similar size to Asus’ Eee PC 901 and noticeably smaller than MSI’s Wind.

Crucially for a netbook that’s going to spend most of its life rattling around in the none-too padded confines of a commuter’s bag, the build is reassuringly sturdy. In fact it’s particularly robust by netbook standards, with a solid lid and a flex-free chassis.

10000 BC

10000 BC is an epic movie of prehistoric days. The director known for his use of visual effects (Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow), Roland Emmerich once again uses stunning visual effects in the movie.


The Plot
The film follows DLeh (Steven Strait), a young mammoth hunter who is the son of a hunter that abandoned the village. He grows up rather lonely as his friends do not want to mix with him, except for Evolet (Camilla Belle). The village lives mainly through hunting, and no farming.

Hence when a mammoth herd was to come, the men hunters were to kill it for food & survival. DLeh did this though his fight was a mere coincidence, as he couldnt let go from the net actually. Hence, although he was given recognition for his bravery, he declined it later.

Later, the village was ambushed and kidnapped many of his tribe mates and Evolet to be used as slaves. The journey then begins with DLeh with the help of Tic Tic (Cliff Curtis) following the signs to save and rescue Evolet plus their tribe mates. He goes into a world beyond his, learning about the other tribes with different cultures and the big wide world - from jungle to the desserts.

In between he learns about his father and his role that is to not only save Evolet, but also to help all the other tribesmen who have been kidnapped as well by the make-believe gods, who were creating a huge pyramid.

Why Watch This Movie
For its stunning visual effects & cinematography. The top views at the mountains are stunning. And the visual make up of the pyramid is astounding and looks very real.

Even the scenes fighting the huge mammoths all seem very real.

Conclusion & Overall Rating
This movie has set high standards based on its publicity, but fall short on its rather simple & straight forward storyline. Still this is a good watch for movie buffs with time to spare.
